Been craving for rendang ayam ever since Ramadhan started. So woke up early and went to the pasar with Yvonne for the ingredients. My first time cooking it on my own without Mama's supervision and am glad it turned out drool-worthy (haha, so perasan) despite only remembering to add in the blended garlic halfway through and substituting asam keping with lime juice!
Ingredients for Mama's rendang ayam: garlic, small onions, lengkuas, ginger, kunyit, daun kunyit, serai, asam keping, fresh and dried red chillies, santan and kerisik kelapa, daun limau purut, water, salt and of course, chicken.
Now, if only I can get my hands on some lemang or ketupat...
yummy!.. i want some!..
Can i have some too? i'll bring lemang...

Rendang Ayam Recipe
Ingredients: as listed, just adjust and agak-agak the amount macam Jamie Oliver haha
Step 1: blend all dry ingredients together except kerisik, asam keping and chicken; leave upper part of serai intact in short sticks
Step 2: mix the blended stuff with the chicken, asam keping, serai sticks, water & santan in a kuali and cook on medium fire
Step 3: when the kuah has been reduced, add garam secukup rasa, kerisik, and daun kunyit(thinly sliced) to garnish :)
sugeo: german wantan in onion soup sounds yummy-licious too muahahaha
